PTIFamily Constitution: 'The Source Code'
Status: Live as of March 4th 2026
This document establishes the PTIFamily (the "Charity") as an agile, community-led collective. We operate with a "progress over perfection" mindset, cutting through the red tape to prioritize transparency and real-world impact.
Part 1: The Purpose & DNA
1. The Identity (Name) The collective is officially known as the ‘PTIFamily’.
2. The Intent (Objects)
We provide a modern, "as well as" alternative for the RAF PTI community, past, present, and future. We respect the heritage but focus on the now and future.
- Next-Gen Support: We move past just "reminiscing" to focus on proactive, life-stage welfare, and personal growth.
- Radical Inclusivity: If it affects one, it affects the whole. We explicitly embrace partners and spouses, ensuring they stay connected to the family even after the bereavement of the PTI..
- Active Engagement: We build community through in-person meet-ups, "Living History" podcasts, and digital-first interaction.
- Verified Support (Trust): We provide direct, curated links to vetted Veteran Organizations you can rely on.
- Leveling Up (Insights): We deliver real career pivots, employer partnerships, and peer-to-peer mentoring to help you excel after service.
The Intent will be based on 3 Key Pillars:
- Participation : Engagement - building a dynamic and agile community
- Trust: Welfare & Wellbeing Curated content connecting members to support, services and self-service solutions to meet ‘life-stages needs’
- Insights: Career Development - Insights, Introductions & Opportunities
3. The Treasury (Income & Property)
- Every bit of funding is poured directly into supporting the intent.
- Architects (Trustees) can be reimbursed for legitimate expenses incurred while representing the Charity.
- No "profit-sharing" for members, but trustee & non-trustee members can be paid fair rates for professional services they provide to the PTIFamily.
4. The Exit Strategy (Dissolution)
If the PTIFamily decides to wrap things up, the Architects handle the closing. Any remaining "funds" (assets) must be donated to the RAF Association or a similar cause, never split among members.
5. Evolving Changes (Amendments)
Any major changes to the Name, Purpose, or Exit Strategy require a 51% majority vote at a Town Hall. We will never make a change that stops us from being a legal Unincorporated Charitable Association.
Part 2: The Advocacy & Governance
6. Joining the Family (Membership)
Who’s In:
- Open to anyone 18+ in the PTI community.
- Qualified PTI’s and Reservists.Spouses/Partners who retain a connection (even after separation or divorce), subject to Architects agreement.
- Supporters and Sponsors will be able to join the PTIFamily as designated PTIFamily ‘Allies’ without voting rites.
- Adopted members - PTI’s from other Nations Armed Forces without voting rites
- Honorary Membership will be subject to sponsor statement and approval by a majority vote at a Town Hall meeting.
Agile Engagement: You’re a member because you’re connected whether that’s hitting an In Person meet-up or engaging on the socials.
Reading the Room (Termination): The Architects can hit pause or end a membership only if it’s in the best interest of the collective. Termination is never a solo call; it follows a documented process to keep things fair and transparent. A copy of the Disciplinary process will be clearly visible and available to all members on the Digital hub ‘The Pulse’ and will be validated at the AGM.
7. The Architects (Officers & Trustees)
The family is guided by at least three Architects: a Lead (Chair), a Connector (Secretary), and a Guardian (Treasurer).
8. Town Halls (General Meetings)
- The Annual Heads Together (AGM): We gather once a year (max 15 months apart), In-Person or Virtually
- Notice: You’ll get at least 21 days' heads-up before any Town Hall.
- The Quorum: We need at least 10 members (or 10% of the PTIFamily) present to make big moves.
- Architect meetings - a quarterly cadence of update/ member meetings will be established
- All members will be invited to attend virtually and minutes will be circulated to all members post-meeting.
9. Powers of the Architects
The Architects are empowered to raise funds, collaborate with other agencies, and do whatever is legally necessary to meet our goals.
